This blog is a collection of my (quasi) daily thoughts. I'm Rachel - a 26 year old working in NYC as a web designer & developer for a social networking company. I’ve been told that: I read like a monster, I’m an indiscernable music liker and my red velvet cupcakes are awesome. Also, I’m addicted to bags.

things happen for a reason, i think.

24 August 2009

I’ve had this thought stuck in my head for the last week or so and I’m hoping that by putting it out there, it might clear my head a bit. So, I believe that things happen for a reason. We may not always know or like the reason but I believe one does exist and it can exist to make you a stronger or better person. There is something to learn from each new experience, good or bad. Then based on those experiences, you might make certain decisions that you feel are right or best for you. I’ve done that. Like let’s say you have a certain relationship or dynamic with someone that just isn’t working. You keep trying to make the best of it but you realize, after many letdowns, that the right decision is to walk away and remove yourself from the situation. Seems logical and well thought out, right? Now – what if you’re forced to make this same decision over and over again with the same person because the decision gets.. undone somehow. Over and over and over again. Is there something I should learn from that? Is that a sign? Or as a dear friend of mine put it – “you are getting royally screwed by some cosmic force.”

At this point, I don’t know what to think. If this is a sign to let said person back into my life, well I am going to need another sign that says [our bad] history won’t repeat itself. Because I can’t handle the stress or the hurt right now. I just want to keep looking and moving forward. Does anyone else believe in things like fate, signs or karma? Or do things just happen without reason. Thoughts and opinions are welcome.
