stress at the workplace

The past week and a half of work have been hell. Unreasonable deadline on a project for a high profile client, poor management, staying an extra 1.5 hours each day, working through lunch, more coffee than usual, stress. Stress. STRESS. And I’m usually pretty calm at work despite the number of projects they throw at me. I work well under pressure. In fact, I’ve been told it’s downright unsettling that I don’t freak out. Well.. so much for that. I felt like my head was going to explode at any minute and people could tell. Everyone was saying that it would be impossible to finish in time (funny how they said that and yet wouldn’t change the deadline) but I did it. What I needed to get done by today is actually finished and I’m feeling pretty good. I can finally breathe and relax; have a normal lunch break (for now). Best of all, I can leave at 5!

Anyway, I decided to reward myself with a vacation at the end of this month. Seriously, I need it – I’m just so burnt out from everything. So, it’ll be four days with theedorks in Maryland (Ocean City & Baltimore) plus 8 more days of freedom after that (I have a lot of unused vacation time).
