This blog is a collection of my (quasi) daily thoughts. I'm Rachel - a 26 year old working in NYC as a web designer & developer for a social networking company. song of the day - ignorance

7 July 2009

A friend of mine complained about being struck in the tri-state area for the long 4th of July weekend (4 days!) but I actually wanted to be home. I got some me time in on Friday (even though I was running around and baking), the family came over on Saturday for a BBQ, my Domingo relatives visited on Sunday, and I spent all of yesterday with my cousin & her kids. I also cleaned my room and got a manicure. Go me! All in all – it was a relaxing yet energetic weekend.

Anyway – song of the day. Paramore officially released the first single off their new album entitled, “brand new eyes,” today. And I am loving it! I have a good feeling about this new album. Of course, being the lyrics freak that I am, I gotta highlight the parts that stood out to me:

I don’t wanna feel your pain / when you swear it’s all my fault / ‘cause you know we’re not the same / oh we’re not the same / friends who stuck together

You treat me just like another stranger / well it’s nice to meet you sir / I guess I’ll go / I best be on my way out / Ignorance is your new best friend

This is the best thing that could’ve happened / any longer and I wouldn’t have made it / it’s not a war no, it’s not a rapture / I’m just a person but you can’t take it / the same tricks that once fooled me / they won’t get you anywhere

Here’s the song. Listen to it. Buy it on iTunes (or wait until the album comes out on Sept 29th). Hope you like it!
