This blog is a collection of my (quasi) daily thoughts. I'm Rachel - a 26 year old working in NYC as a web designer & developer for a social networking company. I’ve been told that: I read like a monster, I’m an indiscernable music liker and my red velvet cupcakes are awesome. Also, I’m addicted to bags.

Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out

When: This entire week but I went yesterday (October 21st)
Where: The Puck Building in Soho
What: Basically a night of shopping in which various vendors and designers sell (or give away samples) of their products at a (very!) discounted price. At the same time, food and cocktails are served and you can get beauty treatments done (ie. teeth whitening, hair styling, hand massages). Best part – the goodie bag! Which is exactly what it sounds like.

So yesterday was my third time attending this event and I always go with one of my coworkers. It’s something fun to do after a long day at work and luckily for us, it’s only 10 mins away from our office. I wanted to include a picture of my goodie bag but I only thought of it once I had taken everything apart and let my mom do a little “shopping” of her own (aka taking my stuff!). To give you an idea of what I got: 4 bottles of lotion, 3 lip balms, 3 bars of chocolate, Body Shop samples, hair ties, travel sized toiletries, hair spray, face cleanser, body wash and more. We basically go for the goodie bag alone :) But it’s definitely great to peruse and find good deals. The only problem is that there are so many women around, many pushing their way through. Not to mention, they tend to be a lot bigger than me so I can’t always see what’s on the tables. But I did end up buying one thing for myself – a bag! – so I can’t complain.

Anyway if you’re interested in going (and I recommend doing so), check out their website to see if they’re hosting an event near you!
