This blog is a collection of my (quasi) daily thoughts. I'm Rachel - a 26 year old working in NYC as a web designer & developer for a social networking company. I’ve been told that: I read like a monster, I’m an indiscernable music liker and my red velvet cupcakes are awesome. Also, I’m addicted to bags.

review: up in the air

19 January 2010

Synopsis: Academy Award-winner George Clooney stars as Ryan Bingham, a businessman on the verge of reaching five million frequent flyer miles when his company decides to cut back on travel. But his goal isn’t the only thing just out of reach: he now won’t be able to see a fellow frequent traveler who has caught his eye. (rottentomatoes.com)

Here’s what I thought:

  • I’ve never been much of a George Clooney fan or interested in any of his movies (unless he was acting alongside Brad Pitt), so even I was a little surprised that I wanted to see “Up in the Air”. And it was so worth checking out! This role was perfect for him.
  • The other two female leads were perfect as well. But I was particularly impressed by Anna Kendrick. Prior to this I had only seen her in the Twilight series so.. you can just imagine what I thought of her acting skills. But I was so wrong. She’s actually extremely talented!
  • The movie was the right mix of drama and comedy. You really feel for what happens to these characters and then a few seconds later will be laughing out loud.
  • Also, these characters just might have one of the most depressing jobs ever.

Overall: Lives up to the hype surrounding it; it’s a really enjoyable movie that I’d recommend watching.
