This blog is a collection of my (quasi) daily thoughts. I'm Rachel - a 26 year old working in NYC as a web designer & developer for a social networking company. I’ve been told that: I read like a monster, I’m an indiscernable music liker and my red velvet cupcakes are awesome. Also, I’m addicted to bags.

list of places in new york, part 2

5 September 2009

Back in June, my cousins and I spent a day in New York and we knew that we wanted one more day like that before the summer officially ended. And that day turned out to be this past Friday. John, Carina, Jason and I headed into the city with a list of brand new (and some old) sights to see.

Hello Kitty

  1. Tom Sachs’ Bronze Collection: Sanrio Sculptures and Miffy – Clearly this was one of my choices and I loved it! It was such an unexpected sight to see on Park Avenue and the sculptures were a lot larger than I had anticipated. If you’re a fan of Hello Kitty, it’s a great place to visit!
  2. Central Park – We ended up seeing a lot more of the touristy spots that I had never seen before. We saw the Imagine Mosaic (John Lennon tribute), Bethesda Fountain, the Rustic Cop Cot and even rode the Carousel.
  3. Generation Records – We visited this place before but it’s such a great place for finding band shirts, rare cds and vinyls. They also have a cat that roams around the store.
  4. Soho – Just like last time we had lunch at Lupe’s East L.A. Kitchen and then went shopping at Yellow Rat Bastard and Uniqlo.
  5. Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – A small museum located in the middle of Soho that has some pretty interesting exhibits. When we visited, we saw “Sounds and Pauses: The Comics of David Mazzucchelli”.
  6. Union Square: We got some delicious cupcakes at Crumbs Bake Shop, checked out all the little stands and stopped by Strands Bookstore.

Overall, another beautiful day spent in the city :)
