I’m Rachel.
I’m a 26 year old Filipina who often gets confused for a (insert random Asian nationality here) high school student. Born and raised in Elmhurst, NY until I was 7 but it’s been good old New Jersey ever since. Same town, same house, same room. Still with my parents & grandmother. Three houses worth of aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews all within a 10-minute radius. Did I mention that I love my family?
Professionally – I currently work in New York as a web designer and developer for a social networking company. I constantly b*tch and moan about the commute but truthfully, I wouldn’t work anywhere else. (Note: I’m also an occasional freelancer with one of my best friends. Contact me if you’d like to know more.)
So how did I get into web design and blogging? Funny you should ask. (Or if you didn’t, skip this paragraph). I started blogging when I was about 17 but I got started in web design & development right at the beginning of high school. It all began with a series of fan sites for my favorite TV shows – Pacey & Andie’s Place (Dawson’s Creek) and Forever Fehr (actor on Roswell). Yes, I had a thing for alliteration. And then from there I ventured off into personal blogging before finally settling on withoutwords.net – my blogging outlet of choice for the last 8 years or so.
So – this is me. This is my blog. Enjoy!
